Learn Stranded Knitting and Intarsia linked workshops

Colour-work is making a comeback for garments and accessories this year and one of our favourite yarn brands, West Yorkshire Spinners, has collaborated with the Morris Society to produce an amazing new range which launched with designs inspired by William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement.
So that you can make the most of this new yarn and patterns we are running two workshops in October (giving you time to pick your favourite patterns). The linked workshops will teach the skills needed to tackle colour-work together with tips on planning ahead to make working the patterns easier.
Week one: Stranded Knitting - Saturday 15 November 1.30 till 4.00pm
This class teaches the required colour-work skills for the yoked jumper in the book, boxed cowl set and boxed mittens and hat set
The class includes:
Reading the pattern and chart and planning the project
Stranded knitting both ‘traditional’ style and two handed
Stranded knitting both ‘traditional’ style and two handed
Methods of catching floats (including ladderback if time allows)
Working stranded colour-work flat and in the round
Managing three colours on a row or using swiss darning to complete the design

Week Two: Intarsia and Stranded Intarsia - Saturday 29th November 1.30 till 4.00pm
This class teaches the additional skills needed for the intarsia patterns in the book, the boxed blanket kit and the boxed cushion kit
The class includes:
Reading the chart and planning the project
Intarsia knitting for block colour-work
Combining intarsia and stranded knitting - working flat and stranding across small motifs
Managing three colours in the combined technique
The price of the two linked is sessions is £70.00 including refreshments and two balls of Morris yarn. Please bring own needles if possible (3.5mm and 4mm circulars)
Classes can be booked with a £20.00 deposit with the balance paid later
